About
Our home landscapes are more than mere window dressings. They can make up as much as twenty percent of a home's value. Our gardens extend our living spaces and provide the scenery for our lives. Equally importantly, our landscapes can provide valuable green space for local wildlife who struggle with disappearing habitats.
Marissa Faris created My Austin Gardener to help cultivate inviting outdoor spaces that are sustainable and wildlife friendly. She earned her master’s degree in horticulture from Texas A&M University and worked as a horticulturist at the Chicago Botanic Garden. She was a featured presenter at the Chicago Flower and Garden Show and went on to work as a freelance garden designer and consultant in both San Diego and Austin. She is also an experienced environmental educator.
Marissa enjoys sharing with others the joy of connecting (or reconnecting!) with the natural world through thoughtfully created gardens and landscapes.
